Geriatric Massage Therapy

Compassionate, Experienced Care — In the Comfort of Your Community

With over three years of hands-on experience working inside assisted living communities, I specialize in providing safe, nurturing, and effective massage therapy for older adults.

This is not a spa massage.
This is thoughtful, therapeutic touch tailored to aging bodies — with patience, presence, and deep respect.

Why Geriatric Massage?

As we age, our bodies change. Circulation slows. Muscles tighten. Joints stiffen. Sleep becomes lighter. Stress lingers longer. Gentle, intentional massage can help support:

  • Reduced Agitation and Anxiety: Massage therapy can help seniors with neuro-cognitive disorders feel more relaxed, reducing feelings of agitation, anxiety, and restlessness often associated with these disorders.

  • Improved Sleep: Massage can promote better sleep patterns, helping seniors achieve a more restful and deep sleep, which is crucial for their overall cognitive function and mood stabilization.

  • Enhanced Mood and Emotional Well-Being: Gentle touch and soothing massage techniques can stimulate the release of endorphins, promoting a positive mood and emotional comfort for seniors with dementia.

  • Increased Social Interaction: Massage sessions provide a safe, comforting environment for seniors to engage in social interactions with the therapist, fostering a sense of connection and reducing feelings of isolation.

  • Sensory Stimulation: Massage therapy stimulates the senses through touch, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals with neurocognitive disorders, enhancing sensory awareness and providing a calming sensory experience.

  • Improved Circulation and Flexibility: Massage techniques can improve blood circulation and muscle flexibility, potentially reducing muscle stiffness and discomfort commonly experienced by seniors with dementia.

  • Enhanced Communication: Massage encourages non-verbal communication, allowing seniors with neurocognitive disorders to express themselves and connect with others in a non-verbal and gentle manner.

  • Memory and Cognitive Stimulation: While massage primarily focuses on relaxation, the sensory stimulation involved may provide subtle cognitive benefits, such as temporary memory improvement or increased attentiveness.

For many seniors, therapeutic touch isn’t just helpful — it’s profoundly comforting.

Specialized Experience You Can Trust

Working in assisted living and memory care settings requires more than skill — it requires awareness.

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist who completed training in geriatric massage therapy. I am also a LMU Certified Yoga Therapist who have worked with the senior population as an intern at Venice Family Clinic, and as a yoga instructor at the Torrance Memorial Health Services.

I am experienced in working with:

  • Limited mobility

  • Wheelchair-bound residents

  • Cognitive decline and memory care

  • Fragile skin

  • Post-surgical and medically complex clients

Sessions are always adapted for safety, comfort, and dignity.

Family members often share how much brighter, calmer, and more relaxed their loved ones feel after consistent sessions.
